Landscaping Design Profile – A Barren Backyard in Media, PA completely transformed.
This couple had a rear yard that was either barren or just weeds. They wanted a landscape design more in keeping with the woods in which they live. After we eliminated the ailing lawn we created an irregular flagstone patio in the extreme rear, giving them a new outdoor room. This new room was connected to the rear door of the house with a stepping stone path that includes a spur to the bird feeder.
We then brought in boulders to offer textural variation to the plants. Bio soil was added to enable the new landscape plantings a good start and enable them to thrive in the root matrix of the shade canopy above. Lastly we introduced many native species of shrubs, perennials and bulbs to complete the woodland effect.
Now the owners often uses the patio as a home “office,” and the whole family enjoys their communion with the more natural environment.
